Cosmarium
Some Cosmarium species reproduce sexually when cells of separate mating types become enclosed in mucilage and split open to release the protoplasts through holes in the isthmus.   The amoeboid gametes emerge from the cell walls of the conjugating parent cells and fuse to develop into a round, thick-walled zygote covered with spines, warts, or lumps.
