Botrydium
When sufficient water is present, Botridium releases biflagellate zoospores or gametes with a single nucleus. When there is less water the parent cells instead produce aplanospores (nonmotile spores that sometimes develop flagella) or resistant cysts. Botridium reproduces sexually via isogametes or anisogametes. Like other yellow-green algae, Botridium can sometimes reproduce asexually through fragmentation, bilateral division, and the development of akinetes.
