Kasia received her Ph.D in Natural Sciences in the Department of Biology, Geography and Oceanology at Gdansk University in Poland and then was a postdoctoral fellow at the California Academy of Sciences. She has been associated with the Freshwater Ecology lab since 2000 and has focused primarily on the analysis of periphytic samples collected as part of our NSF Biotic Survey and Inventories grant. Kasia joined us during the sampling trip North Carolina in the summer of 2001 and also went to Maine the summer of 2002. Kasia was a co-author on the following poster presented at the16th North American Diatom Symposium in Minnesota: Siver, P.A., Hamilton, P., Stachura-Suchoples, K., and J.P. Kociolek. 2001. "A new species of Neidium from a New England glacial kettle pond". In addition, she was the first author on the following: Stachura-Suchoples, K., J.P. Kociolek, and P.A. Siver. 2004.
