Eremosphaera DeBary
From Greek eremos, "solitary" + sphaira, "ball"

Eremosphaera consists of spherical or angular unicells that may be as large as 300 µm. The cells sometimes remain in groups of 2-4 if the daughter cells do not separate completely from the parent
cell after division. Sometimes a mucilage envelope
is present. Each cell has numerous discoid, parietal chloroplasts with pyrenoids and lumps of starch grains. The chloroplasts radiate outwards from the cell center in strands of cytoplasm. The cell wall is composed of numerous layers.

The chloroplasts are connected by strands of cytoplasm. Each chloroplast may have one or more pyrenoids.
