Chlorella
Asexual reproduction occurs when four nonmotile daughter cells are released from the protoplast
of the parent cell. The processes of sexual reproduction are largely unknown.

Chlorella is often confused with Chlorococcum based on morphology. However, Chlorococcum reproduces by releasing biflagellated zoospores,
has chloroplasts that cover most of the cell wall, and is found in soil or on wood or rocks.
